Tiger Woods revealed the two questions he always asked on his way up in golf whenever he faced racial prejudice.

Woods is widely celebrated as arguably the greatest golfer in history, having triumphed over numerous obstacles that threatened to thwart his path to golfing glory.

Among these challenges was the harsh reality of being denied access to spaces simply because of the colour of his skin.

Woods had taken over the world of golf by the age of 21tig

During his emotional 2022 Golf Hall of Fame induction, he articulated how this injustice only fueled his determination.

“Playing at some of these golf courses, I was not allowed in the clubhouses where all the other juniors were; the colour of my skin dictated that,” he explained.

“As I got older, that drove me even more. So as I was denied access to the clubhouses, that’s fine, I put my shoes on here in a parking lot. I asked two questions only. That was it.

Tiger Woods’ return to the PGA Tour has been locked in.

Tournament organisers at the Genesis Invitational confirmed the 15-time major winner will form part of the field on February 13.

It marks Woods’ first PGA Tour event since the Open last July, where he sadly missed the cut.

Woods spent further time away from the fairways following the Open after undergoing surgery on his lower back last September.

He returned to action in December at the PNC Championship, an event not part of the PGA Tour, where he played alongside his 15-year-old son Charlie.

Woods was also involved in two matches at his new venture, TGL, where he is part of the Jupiter Links GC team.

The 49-year-old went on to make history for all the wrong reasons at the hi-tech, indoor golf league as he became the first player to commit a shot clock violation.

This year’s edition of the Genesis Invitational marks the first time since 1998 it has not been held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, a neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

Tiger Woods is set to play in his first PGA Tour event since last summer’s Open at next week’s Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines.

The 15-time major champion’s involvement was confirmed by tournament organisers on Friday.

The 49-year-old has not played regularly since sustaining severe injuries in a car accident in February 2021.

He missed the cut at the Open in July and had more surgery on his lower back in September.

Woods did play alongside teenage son Charlie in a 36-hole event in December, and has also taken part in the Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) he founded.

The Genesis Invitational, which starts on 13 February and benefits Woods’ TGR Foundation, was relocated to Torrey Pines in San Diego because of the Los Angeles wildfires.

The event will take place just nine days after Woods announced the death of his mother Kultida.

In her only son’s words, Kultida Woods never got “enough credit.” She’s the reason he wore red on Sundays, a choice she spurred on in his early playing days that went on to define an entire era of golf. He got his work ethic from her. She was the person who motivated him to be great and taught him the effort that would need to be required.

“My mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable,” the son said.

Her spirit will live on even as she’s gone. Kultida Woods, the mother of 82-time PGA TOUR winner Tiger Woods, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4. She was 80 years old.

“She was quick with the needle and a laugh,” Tiger Woods wrote in a social media post announcing Kultida’s passing. “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.”

“The PGA TOUR family is saddened by the passing of Kultida Woods,” PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. “Those of us who have been lucky enough to have a firsthand view of Tiger Woods’ career know how much both his greatness and his humanity have stemmed from the love and support of his mother. We will cherish our memories of her and our thoughts are with Tiger, his children Sam and Charlie, and their entire family as they mourn her loss.
