Eddie Hearn has denied Anthony Joshua has agreed his next fight, saying the heavyweight is yet to begin talks with any opponent.

Speculation on social media had suggested Joshua could fight Martin Bakole or Deontay Wilder next.

With Joshua, 35, coming off a knockout loss to IBF champion Daniel Dubois in an all-British clash, Matchroom promoter Hearn says no concrete plans are in place.

“If you look at Twitter [X], he’s signed and agreed to fight Martin Bakole. Today it’s all signed for Wilder against Joshua on June 7th. [But with] both of those fights there hasn’t been one discussion yet,” Hearn said on the 5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce podcast.

Congolese heavyweight Bakole has talked up a fight with Joshua in recent weeks, even suggesting he hurt the two-time heavyweight world champion in a sparring session.

But Hearn, who has promoted Joshua for the entirety of his professional career, laughed off the story, saying he has never witnessed Bakole “rock” Joshua in sparring.

“I think Martin Bakole is a very good fighter, but don’t get carried away that this is the new George Foreman,” Hearn said.

“The problem with Bakole is, he is a handful, but he doesn’t really bring the dollars for the fight.”

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Shakur Stevenson have ruled the lightweight division together since the start of 2023. Shakur is the current WBC World Lightweight Champion and Tank is the current WBA World Lightweight Champion.

Tank vs Shakur is one of the most highly-anticipated fights in boxing right now, as fans want these two undefeated champions to stop taking on easy opponents and test themselves as each other. Given the timeline, there’s a very good chance that these two already-rivals will finally face off in 2025.

Shakur will defend his lightweight title against 18-0 challenger Floyd Schofield on January 22nd, as he looks to take his own undefeated record to 23-0. It will be his second defense since winning the WBC title.

Tank will defend his WBA title against 25-1-1 Lamont Roach just over a week later on March 1st. He has held his world title since 2019, and has been dominating the lightweight division much longer than Stevenson.

Since both of these fighters are having their first defenses in 2025 around the same time, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that they could have a showdown later this year. Tank has historically only fought once a year as of recently due to his status, though this may change considering how early in 2025 he is fighting.

Rumours have been circulating online recently that Anthony Joshua and the often-avoided Martin Bakole are set to face off in Africa later this year.

Joshua lost his last fight to Daniel Dubois in September when the WBC champion stopped him brutally in the fifth round. Since then, in a further blow to AJ’s future, any hopes of a much-anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury ended with the Gypsy King announcing his retirement at the start of the year.

Bakole, who boasts an impressive record of 20-1-0 with 15 KOs, is coming off the back of two impressive wins himself against Carlos Takam and American Jared Anderson, who was undefeated before being knocked out. The Congolese heavyweight is currently in camp for his upcoming fight against Efe Ajagba in an IBF eliminator.Heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua open to fighting in the UFC - on one condition - Mirror Online

What Has Been Said About Joshua vs Bakole

Bakole’s camp has said it’s done, while AJ’s camp are adament nothing has been agreed

Ben Shalom, Bakole’s promoter, said: “It’s done. I’m hearing he’s signed, and we’re off to the Congo.”

However, in response, journalist Gareth A Davis has since revealed that Joshua’s camp hasn’t even had a conversation about a potential fight between the pair. Speaking to BoxNation, he said: “With them (Bakole’s team) saying that, I had to check with certain people.

“I’m hearing from Anthony Joshua’s side there hasn’t even been a conversation. Maybe this is Bakole and his team trying to speak the fight into reality, given Joshua hasn’t got a fight yet and Tyson Fury has retired and that was his obvious fight this summer.

“It would be a major spectacle in Africa, in Congo, in that stadium that Ali and Foreman fought in. It’s a great event if they can do it there 51 years after the Rumble in the Jungle, but I’m sorry I’m hearing there hasn’t even been a conversation about it.”

Usyk, 37, was detained in Poland at Krakow airport, according to widespread reports on social media.

A clip of the Ukrainian being led away by officers emerged online, with the fighter’s wife and camp manager responding to the dramatic incident.

On social media, Usyk’s wife Kateryna said: “Everything is fine, everything is fine. Oleksandr will explain everything later. Nothing criminal, goodnight everyone.”

His friend and camp manager Serge Lapin added: “Don’t worry, everything’s fine. The customs control service is neglecting its duties.”

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky took to social media to confirm that Usyk was released after being detained.

“I spoke with Oleksandr Usyk on the phone after he was detained,” he wrote on X.

“I was disappointed by this attitude towards our citizen and champion.

“I instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, to immediately look into all the details of the incident at Kraków airport.

“Now, everything is fine, our champion has been released, and he is no longer being detained. In the photo, he is with our Consul General in Kraków right after being released.”

The boxer himself also penned a statement on social media.

“Dear Friends. A misunderstanding took place. It was quickly resolved,” he said. “Thanks to all who got concerned. Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for the efficient support. And respect to Polish Police for conducting their obligations with no regards to height, weight, reach and regalia.”

Boxer Paul Bamba has died at the age of 35, his manager, Ne-Yo, announced Friday.

The Puerto Rican fighter’s death comes less than a week after his last fight, a victory against Rogelio Medina that saw him crowned WBA Gold Cruiserweight champion.

American singer Ne-Yo, who made Bamba the first signing to his new management company in November, confirmed the news in a joint statement alongside Bamba’s family on Instagram.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives,” the statement read.

“He was a fierce yet confident competitor with an unrelenting ambition to achieve greatness. But more than anything, he was a tremendous individual that inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination,” the statement continued. “We are heartbroken by his passing and kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this difficult time as we collectively navigate our grief.”

In his prime, Mike Tyson stood firm as one of the most ferocious heavyweights on the planet.

Tyson reached the pinnacle of the sport in November 1986 when he knocked out Trevor Berbick to capture the coveted WBC heavyweight title, becoming the youngest world heavyweight champion in boxing history.

‘Iron’ Mike went on to hold the undisputed championship for three years between 1987 and 1990, defeating the likes of Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno in successful title defences. He would eventually lose his crown to James ‘Buster’ Douglas in a monumental upset at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

Mike Tyson Names The Former World Champion Even He Wouldn’t Fight: “He Beats Everybody”

In a recent admission, Tyson spoke out and revealed there is one fighter that his caught his attention following a fine run of form. That man is former two-time super middleweight champion David Benavidez, who has emerged as a dominant force across both the 168lb and 175lb divisions.

Speaking to ESNews, Tyson spoke highly of ‘The Monster’, claiming even he would be ‘afraid’ to face the 28-year-old, backing him against any potential opponents.

“I like him against everybody. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, and I’m talking facts.

Benavidez made the move up to 175lbs last year, capturing the WBC ‘Interim’ title against Ukrainian veteran Oleksandr Gvozdyk. ‘The Monster’ secured the mandatory position for Canelo Alvarez’s WBC super middleweight title, although a bout between the pair could not be materialised for a number of reason.

Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to extravagant car shopping sprees, and his latest purchase proves he has no plans of slowing down. With his 48th birthday still weeks away, the undefeated boxing champion decided to celebrate early by adding two brand-new Rolls-Royces to his already massive collection.

Mayweather, known for his over-the-top spending habits, reportedly spent $1.2 million on the pair, further cementing his reputation for acquiring luxury vehicles on a whim. The Rolls-Royces, both 2025 editions, were purchased from his go-to dealership, Champions Motoring.

One of Mayweather’s latest additions is far from standard. This Rolls-Royce features Mansory’s signature customizations, making it stand out even among the boxer’s already impressive fleet. The vehicle, finished in sleek black, boasts a Starlight Headliner, Charles Blue leather interior, and gloss black trim. The Mansory badge on the sills confirms that this isn’t just another luxury sedan—this one comes with a few performance and aesthetic upgrades.

Externally, the car features an exposed carbon-fiber rear wing, a quad-pipe exhaust system, and larger aftermarket wheels. While details about any engine modifications remain unclear, Mansory’s reputation suggests that the performance could have been tweaked as well.

Claressa Shields made history by becoming the first boxer, male or female, to win undisputed world championships in three different weight classes. Shields defeated Danielle Perkins to claim the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles, solidifying her status as a boxing legend.

Claressa Shields has solidified her place in boxing history as a three-division champion and the first-ever undisputed women’s heavyweight champion. With an unblemished record of 16-0, Shields is the only boxer, male or female, to claim undisputed champion status across three different weight divisions in the four-belt era—junior middleweight, middleweight, and now heavyweight.

Over the weekend, Shields made history once again when she defeated the previously undefeated Danielle Perkins in a powerful fight. With just seconds left in the 10th and final round, Shields landed a decisive right hook that floored Perkins. The judges scored the fight 97-92, 99-90, and 100-89, all in Shields’ favour, securing her the win and the undisputed women’s heavyweight title.

This victory not only crowned Shields as the undisputed champion of the heavyweight division, but it also cemented her place as the first boxer in the four-belt era—regardless of gender—to become the undisputed champion in three different weight classes. Shields now holds the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles, with the heavyweight division for women considered to start at 175 pounds.

Shields’ latest victory also ended Perkins’ undefeated record, which now stands at 5-1 with two knockouts. Meanwhile, Shields remains undefeated, with her professional record now standing at 16-0, including three knockouts.

Oleksandr Usyk remains unbeaten in the professional ring but one heavyweight maintains he is the man to put an end to that glorious run.

Usyk has achieved everything there is to achieve in boxing and then some. He is a former Olympic gold medalist who cleaned out the cruiserweight division to become undisputed champion, then moved up to repeat that feat at heavyweight. It took him just six years to do so and along the way he twice beat Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Dangerous Heavyweight Is ‘The Only Man Left’ That Can Beat Oleksandr Usyk: “I’ll KO Him Easy”

He has never been knocked down in the pro ranks – though was put to the canvas by Daniel Dubois in what was ruled a low blow – and is generally regarded as the best of his generation and the current pound-for-pound king.

However, Martin Bakole – often regarded as the most avoided man in the division – has sparred with him before now and thinks he would stop the great Ukrainian.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Bakole – who is coming off a stoppage win against Jared Anderson – was asked how he would fare against Usyk.

“Yes [I believe I’m the only man who can do it.] I will beat him easy, I will knock him out. I’m saying this not only because I spar him but I know how to stop southpaws. I learnt all my life, boxing my bother who’s southpaw, how to stop southpaws. All his movement, all that, I will stop that, I will knock him out.”

Bakole’s brother, Ilunga Makabu, is a former WBC cruiserweight world titlist who held the belt between 2020 and 2023 after failing in his first attempt to win it when he was knocked out by Tony Bellew in 2016.

Whether or not Bakole ever gets a shot at Usyk likely depends on if he can get a world title shot of his own against the winner of Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker later this month.

Should he secure his mandatory shot with a win over Efe Ajagba in May and then manage to beat either Parker or Dubois, he may be able to lure Usyk into an undisputed contest.

Everything indicates that Canelo Alvarez will face Terence Crawford in September, according to reports from specialized media, although no official source has expressed itself on the matter.

Before that, the Guadalajara fighter would fight in May, but for that date, none of the opponents among the options that have transpired have yet to gain strength.

Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez.

But as early as Saturday, during the broadcast of the fight between David Benavidez and David Morrell on ESPN for Mexico and Central America, the possibility was mentioned that he could surprise with Jake Paul and now it seems to be a more firm possibility, according to Julius Julianis.

How much would Saul Alvarez vs Jake Paul make?

Without confirmation of the hypothetical Canelo Alvarez vs Jake Paul fight, just on Saturday Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN commented that the Mexican could take home about $100 million.

After that fight, there was speculation about the possibility of reconsidering David Benavidez (30-0), as the Mexican’s trainer Eddy Reynoso was present, but now the information is going in the opposite direction with the opportunity to face Paul, who defeated Mike Tyson in November.
